For all NHS patients
Please request your GP or your local cardiologist to refer you on. Please note that Dr Gupta is not accessible through the ‘Choose and Book’ system.
An up to date idea of Dr Gupta’s outpatient and in-patient NHS waiting times can be found here. As a rough guide in Aug 2011 there is a 8-10 week wait for an out-patient consultation followed by a 10-16 week wait for in-patient procedures.
For all Medically Insured/ Self-paying patients
You can contact Ms Sharon Ngai directly for a private appointment although most medical insurance companies would insist on a formal referral from your GP to cover any in-hospital treatment. Dr Gupta is an accredited health care provider for all major health insurance companies like BUPA, AXA, AVIVA, Pruhealth etc.
The facilities for these patients are housed in the newly refurbished Maple Suite of the Hospital. This private wing contains consultation suites along with individual private rooms for in-patient stay.
Dr Gupta is also available for consultation at the Spire Liverpool Hospital, the largest private hospital in Liverpool. Details of the cardiology service at Spire Liverpool can be found HERE.
For patients living on the Wirral, Dr Gupta holds a weekly clinic at the Spire Murrayfield Hospital in Thingwall.
NHS or Private?
The treatment and the catheter laboratories used are the same for both NHS and private patients, and all patients can expect a similar result from their procedure.
The main difference between the NHS and private routes of treatment is in the waiting times, with private treatment being possible a few months earlier than on the NHS. Besides, private patients get individual rooms with en-suite facilities for in-patient stay rather than a ward bed. Also please note that as one of Dr Gupta’s responsibilities is to train junior medical staff, procedures on NHS patients are carried out jointly by Dr Gupta and the trainee doctor(s) while those done privately are performed wholly by Dr Gupta.
